The 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship rolls into Accra Technical University (ATU) on March 16 for qualifiers in Zone D to be honored.

Host ATU will be in the running to qualify for the quarter finals as it preps to play Wisconsin International University College, Pentecost University College and Central University in the group.

However, the record winners of the Championship will have an eye for the title it lost to University of Ghana (UG) 44-45 in last year’s epic final. Prior to the close defeat, ATU had won back to back Championships in 2011 and 2015.

Having seen arch rival UG make it to the quarterfinals after a flawless qualifying campaign in Zone D, ATU is revving to get its campaign underway.

The side can count on 2015 and 2016 Most Valuable Player winners at the Ghana Basketball Awards Mutaleeb Alhassan and Suleman Abubakar to see it through the preliminaries.

All Nations University College and Marshalls University College have also qualified to the quarter finals set to take place on April 6 and 7.
