Tudu Magic has begun the new basketball season on a high note after impressing in the opening fixtures of the new campaign.

The side tipped off the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I by beating DC Dynamics 59-46 despite playing away from its home fans at the Lebanon House Basketball Court in Tudu; the win over Dynamics took place at the CCYC Court.

Magic placed second at the just concluded Tema Community Basketball League preseason tournament by placing second despite having just seven players available for selection.

After beating DC Dynamics for the second straight time in two days and Ghana Navy respectively, the side lost 26-32 to Nungua Coldstore in the final in overtime.

Compounding the team’s short handedness was a leg injury to Forward Tstatsu Sakpaku who sustained the injury during the knockout stages.

However, the team’s resilience was rewarded with silver medal and Most Valuable Player honors for duo Sakpaku and Shadrach Quaye.

Both players were named Co-MVP’s for the tournament. Magic plays Fire Service on March 22 next in the ABL.
