Former Ghana Basketball Referees Association Chairman Matthias Ocloo will be laid in state at the Lebanon House Forecourt at 13:00 GMT today.
The body of the legendary basketball figure will be at the grounds of Ghana’s famous basketball court for sympathizers to mourn with the deceased’s family.
A special game involving veteran players will be played in Ocloo’s honor later in the day prior to the Accra Basketball League (ABL) matches involving Ghana Navy and Adenta Leopards.
A minute silence will be observed to honor the departed basketball great. In his extensive career, Ocloo served in many roles as a coach and administrator.
Prior to his death he led the nation’s basketball referees in an acting position after working several years as a coach for University of Ghana, St. Mary’s Senior High School among others.
He was Manager of Ghana’s National Basketball Teams and was one of the founding fathers of the Accra League which has grown over the years to become the West African nation’s showpiece league.
Ocloo won the Dedication and Valour Award at the Ghana Basketball Awards in 2013.
