Marshalls (black) won a hard fought game against KNUST.

UG (blue) qualified ahead of UCC.
Reigning Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship winners University of Ghana (UG) and Marshalls University College have qualified from Group A of the ongoing Championship.

Both teams secured the top two spots in respective fashion following the conclusion of games in the quarterfinal stage.

UG topped University of Cape-Coast (UCC) 53-33 to qualify as leaders of Group B while Marshalls made it as the second best team following a close 46-42 win over Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

With qualification already in the bag, UG’s quest for a second straight UPAC Champions did not let up as the side completely blew out UCC.

At the end of the first half, UG led 30-13 and followed it up with a similar performance in the second half to seal the win.

Marshalls University fought hard to put away a determined KNUST side that had lost two straight games in previous outings in the quarterfinals.

Marshalls led 18-17 at the end of the first half and needed a deep three point shot from Martin Quarshie to tie the score at 42 before sealing the win from the free throw line with Evans Anfom and Emmanuel Sarkoh’s conversions rescuing the side.
