Marshalls won the 2017 PUSAG just days earlier.

Marshalls University College’s quest to win two major Championships in a week failed to materialize following the team’s 21-43 loss to the University of Ghana (UG) in the final game of the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The side lost to host and defending champions UG in a very tough matchup that fell short of bringing out the best in both teams.

However, a win for Marshalls would have scored the side an enviable feat of claiming two of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball titles mere days apart.

Prior to the UPAC, Marshalls repeated as Champions of the Private Universities Sports Associations Games (PUSAG) Basketball competition by beating All Nations University College 35-10 on Thursday April 6 at the Cape-Coast Sports Stadium.

That was Marshalls second consecutive title win in the PUSAG basketball event and the side was close to adding what would have been a maiden UPAC Championship just hours later.

The loss in the UPAC final represents another high point of Marshalls ascent to the summit of tertiary basketball in Ghana.
