Brew with MVP Award.

University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has won the 2016-2017 Global Sporting Projects (GSP) Basketball League.

The tertiary side beat defending champions Suncity Braves 26-25 in the title decider on the final day of competition which took place at the Eusbett Hotel Court in Sunyani.

With just a point putting Braves ahead of UENR, the close win catapulted the latter side to the summit of the standings clinching the title in the process.

Braves reign as champions lasted just a year after sweeping all teams field to win last year’s edition without defeat.

UENR Point Guard Robert “Kube” Fiifi Brew was named Most Valuable Player for the season after an outstanding campaign.

In the preceding games, Barracks Scorpions lost 29-30 to West Siders while Sunyani Technical University (STU) benefited from CUCG Saints failure to turn up for the game to win via a walk over and Desert Rabbits rounded off an impressive season by beating LIR Royals 28-19.

Rabbits beat STU 22-19 in an outstanding game played prior to the last round of games.
