West African side Ivory Coast’s National Female Basketball Team will compete in the upcoming FIBA Women’s Africa Basketball Championship after securing its spot courtesy a 70-45 win over Benin in Abidjan.

The result gives Ivory Coast a 153-90 aggregate win over the fellow West African side following an 83-45 win in the first leg played a day earlier at the same venue.

The Ivorians become the tenth team to book its spot in the 12 team roster for the competition slated to take place between September 15 and 24 in Bamako, Mali.

Defending champions Senegal headline the elite group of qualified teams including Angola, Tunisia, Nigeria and 2015 finalist Cameroon.

Two remaining spots will be taken by either Gabon or the Democratic Republic of Congo who will play in a qualifier in a yet to be named date.

The final spot will be handed to a country via the Wild Card provision and the draw is likely to be held this month in Bamako. The Malian capital held a FIBA mid-term congress recently.
