Braves (white) handled Navy with ease.

Defending Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division Champions Braves of Customs have made a resounding winning return to action in the division thanks to a 50-30 win over Ghana Navy.

The game which is part of a two game fixture list for the latest round of games was honored at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu right before Fire Service lost 26-27 to Tudu Galaxy in a close game.

The team was scheduled to play University of Ghana in the last round of games but due to reasons pegged as “administrative” by the league’s board, the game could not be played.

However, that did not affect the team as it raced out to a 36-35 lead in the first half with Gloria Gyampoh converting a jumper in the final minutes of the half.

Braves built a healthy lead in the second half (42-28 with 4:41 left to play) as it punished Navy’s profligacy with the ball with several fastbreak points.

In other instances, Navy’s defense was caught napping as threaded passes from Grace Doe found teammates including Berlinda Tawiah alone to score in the paint.
