Braves (white) handled Navy with ease.

Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division leaders Tudu Galaxy poured water on Fire Service’ hot form with a 27-26 win in a fiercely contested game at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

In the lead up to the game, Fire was riding a two game winning run including a crucial 53-51 win over Ghana Navy in the previous round but suffered a tough loss despite its efforts to seal a fourth win for the season.

The side began strongly with a four nothing run thanks with Forward/Guard Theresa Dodoo scoring a jump shot.

However, Fire got pegged back with a couple of baskets from Tudu evening the score in the process.

The team did end the first quarter in front courtesy a 9-6 lead and battled hard with Galaxy in the second before losing out 16-17 in the first half. Galaxy Center Aishetu Malike erupted in the second quarter with three blocks asserting herself on the offensive side as well.

Fire Guard and one of the standout players of the season, Carlyn Adjei’s converted three point shot gave her team a 25-24 but Fire couldn’t hold on to it as Galaxy capitalized from the charity stripe to win the matchup.
