Rifles (black) has lost for the third time this season.
Panthers Club has won its second game of the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II season following a 49-41 win over Akatsi Rifles.

The win comes on the back of a good first half performance from the former Division I campaigners played earlier tonight.

Panthers took a 13-4 first quarter lead against Rifles with Point Guard Kofi Attefah registering an assist to stretch Panthers lead to 21-10 in the second quarter.

The side featuring a host of experienced players including Jake Morrison, Ken Caesar and Dennis Kodjoe exploited Akatsi’s poor first half performance bookended by Panthers 27-14 lead second quarter lead.

Rifles fared better on the second half threatening to tie the game in the third quarter.

One of Akatsi’s most consistent performers Agudzumegah made a steal before scoring a layup scores to complete a three point play to reduce the deficit to seven 33-40 with 4:31 minutes remaining in the final quarter.

However, Panthers converted free throws late in the game to maintain the team’s lead to end the contest. Rifles have lost all three games played this season.
