CYO (yellow) topped Novas in the opening game.
Warriors (red) faced a loss prior to the cancellation.

CYO has clinched its fourth straight win of the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II following a 64-53 win over Novas Academy earlier tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

The winning side fielded almost the entire team that featured in last season’s campaign that had the miss out on progressing to the elite level.

However, the team has started the season brilliantly winning all four ties thus far including tonight’s 11 point win over Novas.

Heading to the final quarter with a 44-37 lead, Novas’ Guard Osman Alhassan capped off a strong start to the fourth quarter by skipping past CYO defenders to bury a jump shot to reduce the team’s deficit to 49-53.

A quick timeout marked the turning point of the quarter for CYO as the team steam rolled its way to the win with dynamic Guard Taufiq Mohammed stripping Novas off possession to score an uncontested layup.

The Accra Technical University player converted two free throws late in the game to end the game. The second game of the round between Dunks Knight and Navy Warriors ended abruptly due to rain with CYO leading 37-28.
