Aspirants (black) lost to Junior Reformers in the opening game.

Junior Reformers have claimed a 92-80 win over DC Aspirants in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II. The tie played earlier tonight is the first of two ties scheduled to take place at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

The win represents Reformers’ third win of the 2017 campaign while Aspirants fall to its fourth straight loss.

Reformers held a 46-39 lead over Aspirants after the first half. Reformers would go on a 14 point run to begin the second half with Jeffrey Abakisi and JamanI Salifu playing key roles.

Abakisi drained a three point shot to give Juniors a 60-40 lead but Aspirants finished strong to end the quarter trailing 50-68.

Refprmers big man Abakisi scored four straight points to begin final quarter. Both teams traded three point plays before Quincy Mensah drained two straight three shots fron deep deep to cap a brilliant run from Aspirants.

DC Guard Joe Nettey scored to close the tie but team runs into foul trouble with Lankai Blankson fouling out.

With 3:38 remaining in the final quarter, Reformers led 87-69. Reformers Ashietey Ollenu converted one of two free throws to win 92-80.
