Trendy basketball program “Courtside” has been nominated for the upcoming 2017 Radio, Television and Personality (RTP) Awards.

The program has been nominated in the Sports Category and is in the running to win the Television Sports Program of the Year. Courtside has been airing on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports since November last year.

Other programs shortlisted for the award include “The Team”, “Home Run” which also airs on Kwese and “Angel Sports Live”.

Since its maiden episode in 2016, the two hour program has been the main platform for extensive basketball news, analysis and activities.

Matters related to basketball issues in Ghana and outside the West African country are disseminated with insightful pundits in Ghana’s fastest growing sport offering unique perspectives into discussions.

As a means of further educating the audience, the show recently wrapped up quiz segment “Jump Ball” with Ghanaian youth contesting for prizes. Pharmacy Student Sani Alhassan won the top prize and walked away with 1000 Ghana Cedis and assorted items from sponsors.

Anchor Yaw Sakyi Afari has been nominated as TV Sports Show Host of the Year; Courtside airs on Sunday from 16:00 GMT to 18:00 GMT. The Award is sponsored by Adonko Bitters.
