OWASS Harris gathers rebound in Sprite Ball final

Kumasi Girls celebrated a first ever regional title in 2016.
Qualifiers for the 2017 Sprite Ball Championship in the Ashanti Region commences on Friday November 3 at the home of reigning National Champions Opoku Ware School-OWASS.

The qualifiers will decide which teams represent the region in both male and female categories in the celebrated upcoming high school competition.

OWASS won the 2016 December edition by beating record winners Mfantsipim School 27-25 in an exciting final game at the El-Wak Stadium on December 30, 2016.

The team team also doubles as the Ashanti Region Champions after getting past Prempeh College last year with Kumasi Girls High School taking first place in the female division.

Eight schools in each category will play for spots in the main competition in Ghana’s capital, Accra in the coming months.

Prempeh, Kumasi Anglican, Kumasi High, Toase, T.I. Ahmadiyya, Armed Forces and Islamic Senior High Schools will battle it out in the boys category.

Kumasi Girls will have to see off competition from St.Louis, Islamic, T.I. Ahmadiyya, Toase, Kumasi Anglican and Kumasi Wesley Girls High Schools respectively to repeat as champions.

Similar events will take place in several parts of the country before the tournament.
