OWASS in action against TI AMASS (red)
The quest to find this year’s winner in the Ashanti Regional basketball qualifiers ahead of the next Sprite Ball Championship continue as no word is yet to be communicated from the region’s Sports Directorate.

Reigning male national champions Opoku Ware School (OWASS) and Prempeh College are yet to have a winner emerge from two previous final ties.

Both games didn’t end as poor visibility prevented the first final from continuing in overtime after the game ended tied on 16.

The second final, moved to Toase Senior High School to prevent crowd troubles that engulfed the first game, failed to end as heavy rainfall halted the tie in the third quarter.

OWASS led 24-21 prior to the downpour but with little information coming from the regional sports body, both teams are stuck in limbo.

What is certain however is OWASS and Prempeh’s presence at the national event due to be in Ghana’s capital, Accra alongside T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School.

Kumasi Girls Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya will represent the region in the female division.
