Barracks Scorpions take on Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG Saints) at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani at 15:30 GMT.
The matchup tips off the new season which has six teams competing for the prestigious title last won by University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
This year’s competition is without Sunyani Technical University (STU) and West Siders following the duo’s failure to register in time for the season.
Both teams featured in the 2016-2017 season with STU finishing among the bottom ranked sides in the then eight team division.
Former league winner Suncity Braves take on LIR in the second game of the round at 16:30 GMT with Braves set to launch another title winning campaign.
Defending champions UENR play Desert Rabbits in the final game at 17:30 GMT; the game is tertiary’s side first major test since annexing the trophy.
The second round will continue in 2018 with the opening round set to end on December 23.
