The Global Sporting Platforms (GSP) Basketball League 2017-2018 season commenced last week with six teams on the roster but the number of participating teams has increased.

This follows the surprising reinstatement of West Siders and Sunyani Technical University (STU) who were officially omitted from this season’s participants.

Neither team managed to fulfill team requirements ahead of the season and were left out of the campaign after getting extended time to register in time for the league’s commencement.

However, news gathered by Basketballghana.com indicates both teams have been added to the ongoing tournament’s roster in surprising fashion.

Reasons behind the late inclusion are yet to be communicated by the league board whose stance was to see out the season with six teams.

After getting reinstated, both teams featured in Week 2 of the ongoing competition at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani.

West Siders lost 32-61 to LIR while STU returned to the lineup with a bang by beating Barracks Scorpions 47-25.

STU and West Siders have been part of the GSP League since its maiden season in 2015.
