The preseason competition commences later today with Lions taking on Tema Community 2 at 15:30 GMT in the opening game.
Lions feature in the tournament a couple of months after missing out on another league title; this time to Tema Community 4.
Ashaiman lost the 2016 Final series to Nungua Coldstore and missed a final four spot in the last campaign tournament.
After several misses at landing silverware, Lions is poised to clinch the competition’s title to break a long run of finishing second.
Tema Rockets take on Tema Heat in the second game with Akatsi Rifles playing Francophone Stars in the final game of the day.
Francophone Stars, Community 2 and Rifles will be involved in games on Sunday December 17. Reigning league Champions Community 4 will be in action in subsequent rounds.
Coldstore on the other hand, withdrew from the competition citing “house cleaning” reasons.
