OWASS Harris gathers rebound in Sprite Ball final
Opoku Ware School (OWASS) has been drawn in Group D ahead of the next Sprite Ball Championship as the team attempts to retain its title.

OWASS will feature in the preliminary stage at next year’s competition against Mawuli Senior High School, Sacred Heart Senior High School and Adisadel College.

However, the Ashanti Region representative will do so without several members of the team that beat Mfantsipim School 27-25 to lift the trophy.

Eight players have graduated from the program with just four players headlined by Point Guard Emmanuel “Ghost” Agyapong remaining.

The team managed to feature in the regional finals against Prempeh College to book a spot to the upcoming Championship with the heavily refreshed team.

The defending champions were handed a relatively easier group following the draw unlike fellow contenders Pope John Senior High School and St. Augustine’s College.

With little experience on the roster, OWASS’ success or otherwise depends on Agyapong ability to score from deep and finish drives to the basket.

Next year’s competition takes place from January 4-6 at the the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
