Former University of Connecticut (UCONN) players Amida Brimah and Rodney Purvis squared off in the Gatorade League as Austin Spurs faced off against Lakeland Magic.

The two former Huskies were in impressive form as Magic lost 96-98 to Spurs in a close game played at the H-E-B Center in Austin.

Magic’s leading scorer this season Purvis topped all scorers in the game as he recorded 27points and added three rounds and three assists.

The more defensive Brimah led the game in blocked shots as he recorded three in the category anchoring a defense that has been successful limiting opponents.

Brimah added eight points, eight rebounds and an assist in the contest days after recording game high 15 rebounds in another winning contest.

The result represents Austin’s third straight win and another good defensive performance from the 6 foot 11 inch Center.

After transferring from North Carolina State University after his first year, Purvis played with Amida three years with the Ghanaian captaining the team in his final year.

Neither player was drafted in the NBA Draft earlier this year.
