The 2017 basketball season is all but over and ahead of what promises to be a better and exciting season in 2018, Basketballghana.com takes a look at some events that shaped the campaign.

While there was a lot to cheer about this past season, lowlights popped up at different times in the season chief among them, the demise of iconic Ghana basketball figures Matthias Ocloo and Benjamin Baafi.

Veteran Coach, Referee and Administrator Ocloo passed away in March after a protracted illness which prevented witnessing the last edition of the Sprite Ball Championship.

The West African country’s landmark high school basketball championship is synonymous with the basketball lifer who dedicated endless hours to its success over since its inception in 2007.

Few weeks after Ocloo’s death, long time friend Benjamin Baafi passed away after serving in various roles at Ghana’s premier basketball club Braves of Customs.

After starring as a player, Baafi, popularly known as “Capito” was elevated to Ghana’s Revenue Authority Sports Director as a result of his standout leadership skills.
