2016 Olympian Ekenechukwu Ibekwe has officially joined Champagne Chalons-Reims in the French Pro A Basketball League.

The experienced Nigerian International Forward joins Ghana Forward Ben Bentil in Reims frontcourt as the Northern French side battles to move up the standings in the 18 team league.

Bentil is the team top scorer averaging 13 points per game and has scored in double figures in Reims back to back wins in the league.

Ibekwe played for the West African powerhouse at the last Olympic Games held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Nigeria failed to progress beyond the preliminary stage in the competition USA won.

The 32 year old is well travelled after playing in several countries in Latin America, Europe and Asia since leaving Maryland College in 2007.

Prior to signing with Reims, Ibekwe has played for BiG Oettinger Rockets Gotha in the German League and Usak Sportlif in Turkey.

He is averaging 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.8 blocks in 12 games for the season; Ibekwe has prior experience in France as he helped Chalon-Sur-Saone win the league title in 2012.
