Opoku Ware in Blue lost to Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Senior High Technical School has clinched a shock win over defending Sprite Ball Champions Opoku Ware School.

The Greater Accra Region side beat Opoku Ware 38-27 in the opening game of Group D in the preliminary stage.

The last time Opoku Ware played at the El Wak Stadium in Accra, the team walked out of the venue champions of the boys division.

However, the team’s ambitions of making it to the quarterfinals of this year’s competition has hit a snag following the stunning loss and needs to win the remaining games in the group to stand a chance of making it to the next stage.

Sacred Heart do it all Forward Joseph Kwesi produced a Most Valuable Player of the game performance leading his side to the big win.

Joseph crashed the boards, dished out assists and scored half of the team’s point output to the frustration of the Opoku Ware entourage.

Early in the day, record winners Mfantsipim School lost 14-45 to PRESEC-Osu.
