The 2018 Sprite Ball Championship has ended with Kumasi Girls High School and Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC-Osu) winning the female and male divisions respectively.

However, this year’s edition of the tournament was marked with a ton of surprises including the ultimate winners of the male division.

As a relatively unknown prospect in the competition, Osu-PRESEC beat the odds to clinch Ghana’s most prestigious high school championship.

The team ended the campaign without suffering a loss and handed out two straight losses to record winners of the competition Mfantsipim School including the 25-22 result in the final game.

Ironically, both teams played the first game in the tournament with PRESEC flat out dominating Mfantsipim to a 40-14 win.

Winners of the previous edition, Opoku Ware School and Wesley Girls High School crashed out at the preliminary stage after failing to fully recover from opening game losses to Sacred Heart Technical Institute and Accra Wesley Girls High School respectively.

Sacred Heart’s performance was a big surprise in the competition as the side topped Group D before placing fourth.
