Coach of Presbyterian Senior High School’s (Osu-PRESEC) Male Basketball Team Eric Ankamah has stated an extended period to prepare for the Sprite Ball Championship was the key to his team’s success.

Osu-PRESEC won this year’s edition of Ghana’s most celebrated high school basketball competition following a 25-22 win over Mfantsipim School in the final.

The relatively unknown school shocked the competition with its fundamentally sound brand of basketball that had them end the tournament with an unbeaten record.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com in an interview after appearing basketball television show “Courtside” to showcase their title, Ankamah fingered a long period of preparation as the reason for his team’s success.

“When we won the Zone 2 Championship last year we knew we were getting ready for Sprite Ball… when they come to school we will do a lot of beach work in the morning. Constantly, this thing (preparation) has been going on very well” he said.

This is Osu PRESEC’s maiden national championship and is Greater Accra Region’s first title in the division since Armed Forces Senior High Technical School won in 2009.
