Following a lengthy barren spell without competitive basketball, Ghana’s Brong Ahafo Region capital Sunyani, will host a series of compelling games over the coming weeks.

For starters, the second round of the Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League commences this weekend at the Eusbett Court.

The league has been on break since December 16 and games involving all eight teams in the league will be played out on February 17.

On the other hand, this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is set to start with a reported March 3 start date.

Three GSP League teams namely University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani Technical University (STU) and Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints are in line to play the UPAC Games.

However, the league will witness another break on March 10 and recommence on March 17 meaning the Sunyani leg of preliminary games could be played during the break to align with the calendar.

UENR take on Barracks Scorpions , STU play Desert Rabbits and CUCG Saints take on LIR Royals this Saturday; West Siders play Suncity Braves in the opening game.
