The much anticipated 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship start date is drawing close.

This year’s games are reportedly set to tip off on March 3 with over 30 tertiary institutions in Ghana set to play in the eight week long competition.

For Catholic University College Ghana (CUCG), the upcoming tournament represents a big chance to right its season which has gone wrong so far.

The institution’s Male Basketball team is yet to win a game in the Global Sporting Platform (GSP) League in Sunyani with four losses in as many games.

As a result, CUCG sits bottom of the eight team league with just four points to its credit; the league’s second round is set to commence on February 17.

After making its debut in the 2016 edition, CUCG is yet to progress beyond the preliminary stage with unsuccessful stints at the regional level.

The team has lost out on a spot at the national competition to fellow GSP opponent and tertiary side University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
