Reports reaching Basketballghana.com indicate the 2018 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Season will commence on March 21.

This year’s competition will have Braves of Customs as defending champions in the Male and Female Divisions respectively.

Both teams ended up as winners in last year’s campaign with Ghana Police clinching the Male Division II title to qualify to the elite division.

Police will be joined by Reformers of Prisons and Navy Warriors from Division II after the trio clinched the top positions in the lower tier.

The Male division’s roster is set to expand beyond seven last season’s campaign had; the female division is likely to experience same since Reformers Women’s side didn’t participate in the 2017 season.

Following last season’s shocking win over Braves, Tema Youth will be hoping to build on the result and break Braves stranglehold on the league trophy.

Just like last season’s campaign, the upcoming year will be played in the absence of stalwarts Benjamin Baafi and Matthias Ocloo who passed away last year.

Ocloo is a founding father of the league and Baafi served as League Chairman prior to his demise.
