KAAF (blue) against CCTU
UEW (blue) v CCTU

With Cape-Coast Technical University (CCTU) and KAAF University College already out of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship little was at stake when the sides met.

However, the penultimate Zone 3 game turned out the opposite as the sides battled for either team’s first win of the competition.

CCTU and KAAF had lost to Regent University College and host University of Education-Winneba (UEW) in the previous rounds to stand no chance of making it beyond the zone.

Cape-Coast ended the fiery encounter with a 40-24 win to clinch its first victory in three attempts; the intense nature of the game caused several delays and multiple fouls were called against players.

Despite the win, CCTU will not compete in the quarterfinals of the tournament stretching its barren run till the 2019 edition.

Losing to CCTU means KAAF University ended the competition without a win; the side lost 33-46 to UEW in its second game.

After playing in the Eastern Zone last year, the move to the Central Zone proved futile in KAAF’s qualification attempt.
