Regent (yellow) battled the host but lost in the end.

University of Education-Winneba (UEW) is enjoying its latest feat after coming up tops in the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Zone 3.

UEW topped the zone after beating Regent University College of Science and Technology 52-35 in the final game.

The win ensured UEW ended the competition with an unblemished record in three games including a 46-33 win over KAAF University College.

The zonal competition took place earlier in the day at the institution’s court; this is the first time games in the preliminary stage have been held outside University of Cape-Coast (UCC).

While UEW led from the start, the team held a 15-9 lead at the end of the first half in a low scoring opening sect of the crunch game.

With either team heading to the fixture with two wins, the tie’s winner automatically won the zonal competition.

The second half turned out different from the opening half as both teams connected on shots with UEW Guard Samuel Blankson connecting on multiple three point shot attempts.

After missing out on the quarterfinals in previous editions, UEW has booked its place in this year’s competition; the quarterfinals and latter knockout games will be played in April in Accra.
