UCC (red) qualified to the quarter finals in 2017.

UCC (red) topped the zone last year..
Regent University College of Science and Technology has replaced University of Cape-Coast (UCC) in Zone 2 of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Regent is now officially part of the four team zone set to compete today at the University of Education-Winneba (UEW) in Ghana’s Central Region.

The host institution and Regent have been drawn alongside Cape-Coast Technical University and KAAF University College.

The quartet will compete for a place in the UPAC Championship quarterfinals due to be played in Accra next month.

It remains unclear the reasons behind UCC’s withdrawal since the institution has been present in four previous editions of UPAC since 2011.

The team clinched third place at the 2015 edition but is yet to match the mark since then; UCC missed out on playing in the quarterfinals in 2016.

Only zonal winners make it to the next stage; this is Regent’s maiden appearance in the tournament and the side is hoping to emulate All Nations University College who made it to the quarters in its debut campaign.
