UCC (red) qualified to the quarter finals in 2017.

UCC (red) topped the zone last year..
University of Cape-Coast (UCC) Male Basketball Team will not compete in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The institution has withdrawn from this year’s competition for reasons unknown to Basketballghana.com

UCC is scheduled to compete today in Zone 3 at the University of Education-Winneba (UEW) with the host institution joining three others to compete for a spot in the quarterfinals.

KAAF University College, Cape-Coast Technical University and Regent University College of Science and Technology round up the roster.

Regent has stepped in as a replacement for UCC and will compete in the competition for the first time since UPAC commenced in 2011.

UCC’s withdrawal is a shock considering the team’s deep connection with the UPAC Championship participating in every edition.

The team is a former bronze medal winner in four previous appearances; this is the fifth edition of the renowned tournament.

KAAF is making its first appearance in the zone after playing the Eastern Zone in last year’s competition.
