Sunyani Technical University (STU) is excited to host the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Zone 4 competition according to Pro-Vice Chancellor Solomon Korankye.

He made the statement in the opening ceremony of this year’s zonal competition which is set to take place at STU.

This is the first time STU is hosting the preliminary competition of the renowned tertiary basketball Championship and the institution’s acting head made it known.

Pro Vice Chancellor Korankye welcomed all participating teams to the competition stating he was excited his institution is hosting Brong Ahafo Region’s best.

STU, Catholic University College, Ghana, University of Energy and Natural Resources and Kintampo College of Health are competing in the zone.

This is Kintampo’s maiden appearance in the competition; the team benefitted from Valley View University College satellite campus late withdrawal from the competition.

The zone’s winner moves to the national championship due to be held in Accra in April; UENR represented the zone in Accra last year and placed fourth.

The opening game is between STU and debutants Kintampo.
