Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Male Basketball Team has qualified to the quarterfinals of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The team recorded an unbeaten run to top Zone 5 and book a spot in Accra next month for the competition beating Kumasi Technical University 39-13.

KNUST turned a lot of heads by beating Garden City University College 100-4 in the final game of the zone highlighting its offensive power.

Former player Emmanuel Ekow Amoako who is attached to the team stated in an interview with Basketballghana.com the team’s offense is “very good”.

“I feel our offense is very good but our boys like scoring a lot than defending… our offense is averagely good, our defense, we are working on it” he said.

Amoako won silver and bronze with KNUST at the 2015 and 2016 UPAC Championships respectively and has been with the team since graduating in 2016.

By qualifying to this year’s quarters, KNUST has featured in the past four national championships.
