Competition in Zone 6 of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship takes place on Thursday March 22.

Accra Technical University (ATU) will host the event and will be in action against Valley View University, Wisconsin International University College and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

With the exception of Wisconsin, the remaining members of the zone have progressed beyond the preliminary stage of the competition.

ATU has won the UPAC Championship twice in 2011 and 2015, GIMPA played in the 2016 quarterfinals same as Valley View.

Wisconsin has missed out on making at least a quarterfinal appearance despite being a consistent presence after not featuring in the maiden edition in 2011.

In 2017, Wisconsin was in the same zone with ATU, Central University and Pentecost University but could not progress.

Only zone winners progress to the next stage and it is the reason behind the team’s hire of former GIMPA Coach Albert Djan for this year’s competition.

ATU is gunning for a third title.
