ATU (yellow) v Valley View

Accra Technical University (ATU) has opened competition in Zone 6 of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The team beat Valley View University 55-9 in the first game in the zone; ATU is hosting the games which have Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Wisconsin International University College.

Two time winners Accra Technical had little trouble beating Valley View who are looking for a bounce back performance after failing to qualify from the preliminary stage in last year’s competition.

Following a remarkable run to the national championship in 2016, Valley View has struggled to repeat the feat and matter have worsened following the loss handed by ATU.

ATU run riot in the opening quarters after both struggled to get going on offense; with little over four minutes played in the opening period, the notable play was a block from ATU’s Suleman Abubakar.

Valley buried a couple of three point shots to reduce the deficit to 14 (6-20) heading to the second half but fastbreak dunks and layups moved the host team ahead and an easy win.

ATU plays Wisconsin while Valley View take on GIMPA next.
