University of Ghana (UG) headlines the final zone in the preliminary stage of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The two time winners of Ghana’s most celebrated tertiary basketball competition have been drawn in Zone 8 alongside three teams yet to progress beyond the first stage.

UG will be in action on Thursday March 29 as it attempts to qualify to the national competition of this year’s edition.

The team will host Pentecost University College, Regional Maritime University College and Radford University College on Thursday at the institution’s main court.

Seven winners have been determined over the past weeks through six regions in the West African nation before competition commenced in Greater Accra Region.

Accra Technical University and Ghana Technology University College have won two of the three zones in Accra leaving Zone 8 as the sole remainder.

Should the 2016 and 2017 Champions top the zone, they will join the likes of All Nations University College and Takoradi Technical University in the national competition which takes place from April 12-14.
