In the latter part of April this year, Ghana’s Wheelchair Basketball Team, Black Chariots, is expected to be in Canada to play in a two day international competition.

With over 6000 athletes set compete in various para-sport disciplines from several countries, Ghana has landed the honor as the sole invited team from Africa.

The team has planned to prepare for the competition by holding camp from April 1-18 and enplane for Canada two days later before the tournament commences.

However, Ghana’s team recently missed out on playing in the African Wheelchair Basketball Championship which ultimately cost the country a place in this year’s World Cup.

The reason behind the absence was down to finances and to avoid a similar situation playing out next month, the country’s federation is making moves.

Prior to holding a meeting with representatives from the National Sports Authority and National Paralympics Committee recently, the Federation has already paid off registration fee of the upcoming competition.

Playing in the April competition is of major importance to the team’s development.
