Landry Nnoko- Grand Rapids Drive Center-has been named NBA Gatorade League Defensive Player of the Year in the 2017-2018 season.

The Cameroonian player beat Ghana Center Amida Brimah of Austin Spurs to win the trophy after starring for the Detroit side.

Nnoko came first ahead of South Bay Lakers duo Alex Caruso and Demarcus Holland who finished second and third respectively.

Brimah was a strong contender for the award after ending the regular season as the best shot blocker in the league with 2.6 rejections per game.

He has been a key member of the Spurs side that clinched the best record in the Western Conference and set to play in the Conference Final tonight against South Bay Lakers.

Nnoko averaged 14.7 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.06 blocks in 49 games for Grand Rapids who exited the playoffs in the first round after falling to defending champions Toronto 905.

Nnoko enrolled at Montverde Academy in the US before playing for Clemson for four years. He played in Italy for Victoria Libertas Pesaro before joining the G League side.
