TTU (Blue) beat v KNUST in the opening round

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has clinched its maiden win in the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

KNUST beat Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) 47-32 in both team’s second game in Day One of the knockout phase.

The Group A matchup was crucial to either side as GTUC and KNUST lost respective games in the first round at the University of Ghana (UG).

KNUST rebounded from a painful 35-36 loss to Takoradi Technical University while GTUC fell 29-49 to host and two time champions.

GTUC’s maiden trip to the quarterfinals has exposed the team’s limited experience particularly against KNUST committing several turnovers.

KNUST Coach Regan Sarpong made several changes as he freshened up his side from the one that lost by a point to Takoradi Technical.

Rangy second year Forward/Center Kitson Jojo Quarshie was one of the new faces introduced and he got himself a couple of baskets to help stretch the lead.

GTUC plays Takoradi Technical tomorrow while KNUST takes on UG in a cracking matchup.
