GTUC’s Simon Aphour crowded out by UG players.

University of Ghana (UG) has ended Day One of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship with two wins in as many games.

The two time champions beat Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 64-39 in the final game of the first day of competition in the quarterfinals.

The win follows a 49-29 win over Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) earlier in the day in Group A.

UG wrapped up a big performance with a 25 point win that had the host team take control of the game early on.

UG clinched a 33-15 first half lead but a 10-2 run early in the third quarter with Joel Kwame Opoku providing a highlight moment by stealing the ball and delivered a two handed slam.

His backcourt mate Emmanuel Wolff scored a three point shot from the left corner in front of his bench to cap the big run.

Takoradi Technical Guard Ibrahim Jafar was a big hit for his side but his efforts proved not enough as UG walked away with an emphatic win.
