GTUC’s Simon Aphour crowded out by UG players.

The 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship knockout games tipped off earlier today at the University of Ghana (UG).

The first of three pulsating days of great basketball to determine the w inner of Ghana’s most prestigious tertiary basketball competition was completed with the remaining games to be played on April 13 and 14.

Two time champions and host UG were the biggest winners on the day by clinching two wins in two games to lead Group A.

UG beat Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) 49-29 and brushed Takoradi Technical University (TTU) aside courtesy a 64-37 win.

GTUC lost its second on the day falling 32-47 to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); the win came after KNUST lost 35-36 to TTU.

In Group B, Sunyani Technical University (STU) marked its return to the quarterfinals with a surprise win over All Nations University College.

STU won the matchup 45-39 after Accra Technical University beat University of Education-Winneba (UEW) 49-28.
