ATU’s Abubakar attempts layup

Two time winners of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Accra Technical University (ATU) has laid down its mark for a third title.

The team beat Sunyani Technical University (STU) 48-17 in the second game on Day Two of the ongoing quarterfinals at the University of Ghana (UG).

The win is ATU’s second in Group A following the team’s 49-28 win over University of Education-Winneba (UEW).

Accra Technical’s bigger lineup made life tough for the smaller Sunyani side who got off to a flying start with a win over All Nations University College.

Veteran Center Suleman Abubakar’s power and length was once again a big advantage for the 2011 Champions famous fast breaks.

Small Forward Zakari Alhassan returned to feature in the big win for Accra Technical after exiting early against UEW.

The loss sets up the final game of the day between Sunyani Technical and UEW nicely with either team needing a win to progress to the semifinals.

UEW clinched an 82-50 win over All Nations in the earlier game.
