Warriors (red) v Braves

Navy Warriors put a spirited fight against Braves of Customs in the sole Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I league game played earlier tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.

Braves beat Warriors 48-36 in an exciting tie that had Warriors threaten on several occasions to catch up to Customs.

However, the defending champions held on to record its first win of the 2018 season; Braves led throughout the game and only trailed after the first possession had Ernest Ofori connect on Sylvester Esrifie’s pass.

The opening quarter had Braves take a 16-7 lead but a good second quarter from Warriors had the team trailing by a point (19-20 heading to the second half.

Braves didn’t help matters by turning the ball over on several possessions in the quarter; Warriors created more openings with better ball movement than the previous quarter.

Customs Center Ayana halted Warriors run with a simple layup and teammates Daniel Aryee and Baniba Dodzi added more points from the field as Braves came out blazing in the third quarter. Aryee drove to the basket and kicked the ball out to Dodzi who drilled in his second three point shot of the quarter to gives his side a 32-21 lead.

However, Braves went cold in the latter part of the quarter allowing Navy to go on a 10-4 run to end the third quarter with the likes of Yannick Kodia leading the charge.

Customs Suleman Abubakar blocked three shots as Dodzi’s three point shot and four points from Aryee was enough to clinch the win.
