Central Africa nation Cameroon could have the services of NBA duo Pascal Siakam and Joel Embiid in the national basketball team for World Cup qualifiers later this year.

The next phase of qualifiers on the continent takes place between late June and early July with the three teams in Groups A and C progress to the next round.

Cameroon are second in the group behind reigning African champions Tunisia with two wins over Guinea and Chad and a loss to the North African side.

However, Cameroon competed without the services of Philadelphia Sixers’ Embiid and Toronto Raptors Forward Siakam last year.

Their absence was mainly down to their commitment in the NBA but they will be needed to help the country to play in the 2019 World Cup in China.

Siakam has made his feelings regarding the competition opining he is interested. “Every player wants to represent his country at international level and I would like to do so too” he said to FIBA.com
