Bentil in action for Reims

Ghana Forward Ben Bentil’s former team Champagne Chalons-Reims has avoided getting relegated from the French Pro A Basketball League.

The Northern French side secured its first division status by recording a 102-94 win over Pau-Lacq-Ort in the last round of games in the regular season.

The playoffs commence on Friday May 18 and while Reims will miss the postseason, the team will not play in Pro B.

Reims ended the season with 15 wins and 19 losses to rank 14th in the 18 team standings; the last two teams are relegated to the lower division. Hyeres-Toulon and Boulazac were 18th and 17th respectively.

Bentil played half of the just ended regular season with Reims before moving to RetaBet Bilbao in Spain earlier this year.

During his time with Reims, Bentil was consistently the second best scorer on the team averaging 11. 8 points per game.

Reims was Bentil’s first stop in Europe since turning pro after graduating from Providence College in 2016 and playing for Dallas Mavericks in the NBA.
