Defending league champions Braves of Customs are in second place in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division with the league heading for a long break.

The team ranks second behind Ghana Police Service in the six team standings with 15 points from winning six of nine games played this season.

Police has a one point lead but could extend it further since it has played a game fewer than Braves; Police is yet to beaten this season.

Should the team maintain its position at the summit, it could be ending Braves long tenured grip on the division’s title.

The league returns on August 23 due to upcoming competition in Ghana’s National Unity Games due to commence on August 12 in Cape-Coast.

Despite not featuring in the last three games, Reformers of Prisons are third in the standings with 11 points from winning four of seven games.

Ghana Fire Service is closely behind with the same number of points but an inferior goal difference keeps them out of the top three spots.
