Tunisia and Nigeria will play at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China after both countries secured spots at the world event next year.

The duo competed in the final game of the 2017 African Basketball Championship with Tunisia winning gold in the tournament it co-hosted with Senegal.

Tunisia and Nigeria have won eight games respectively in the qualifiers and respective wins on Saturday against Egypt and Central African Republic (CAR).

Nigeria trounced CAR 114-69 at the National Stadium in Lagos and Tunisia secured a 69-47 win over Egypt in Tunis prior to games tonight.

With the wins, the top sides have 16 points apiece from winning all eight games thus far in the qualifiers and will represent Africa in China.

Nigeria will be playing at the World Cup for the first time in 12 years; Nigeria’s National Female side will feature at the Women’s World Cup later this month.

Three spots remain and Senegal and Angola could secure tickets later today should the pair clinch wins over Nigeria and Tunisia respectively.
