Philadelphia Sixers and Cameroon Center Joel Embiid has been ranked among the top 10 players in the NBA ahead of the 2018-2019 season.

The 7 foot tall former University of Kansas player was ranked ninth by top media agency ESPN which has come out with the annual rankings for the past decade.

Embiid was born and raised in Cameroon before moving to the US at age 16 but is yet to feature for the West African nation despite being named in Cameroon’s roster for the 2017 African Nations Championship (AfroBasket).

After two full seasons injured after getting drafted third in the 2014 NBA Draft, Embiid 31 games in 2016-2017 but played 63 games last season.

He averaged 22.9 points and 11 rebounds last season en route to getting nominated for the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Embiid was also voted into the All Star Game and signed a five year deal worth $148 million with Sixers leading Philadelphia to its first playoffs since 2013.
