Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Basketball Team will be in action later today against France in the FIBA Women’s World Cup.

The game comes after D’Tigress lost 40-71 to USA in the quarterfinals of this year’s competition taking place in Spain.

Despite the loss, Nigeria has the chance to continue its remarkable run in the competition after becoming the first African nation to make the quarterfinals.

Nigeria got off to a flying start against five time Champions USA courtesy a 17-9 first quarter lead before the Americans battled back to clinch the win.

The African Champions 57-56 win over Greece proved enough to get Nigeria through to the quarterfinals; Nigeria had recorded two wins prior to the game against Greece.

France lost 65-86 to Belgium in the all European clash on Friday and takes on Nigeria with a higher classification rank at stake.

China and Canada missed out respective quarterfinal wins to Australia and Spain and face off tonight with semifinal games due to follow.
